drawings...
I am love with drawing... In art museums, I find myself gravitating toward the artist's preliminary sketches rather than the final painted, polished works. The raw thoughts and emotions often seem more apparent in these hand-wrought brainstorm sessions.
I have always enjoyed the oh-so-traditional media of pencil and charcoal but in college, I quickly turned to conte crayons and pastels on toned paper. I began to draw large, live-sized portraits that were very confrontational with the viewer. Body to body, the drawings caused a forced intimacy between subject and viewer.
